dorkfysh's Diaryland Diary ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- all over the place It's all about who you can convince. Whether it's yourself or somebody else, we all have to be convinced. I guess I need to unleash my powers of persuasion to get anything done. Especially persuading myself that some things are just WORTH IT. Me and the kid are going to start a zine. I will write and she will draw and it will be sort of about us, but more interesting. Tentative title: Who's Your Daddy? I think that's pretty fucking funny. She's excited about it, too. She fell asleep reading Monkey Food for inspiration. My kid is amazing. She really is....I don't need to be convinced of that. She's developing all these musical talents that blow my mind. She gets it and wants to explore and express herself through sound. It's so cool I could cry. She has been messing with her guitar a lot and is frustrated that she doesn't have an electric one. I'm hoping to make that dream come sooner rather than later. She wants to go to rock-n-roll camp this smmer and I'm thrilled. She picked up a french horn at a friend's house and made something that sounded like music without ever touching one before. brag brag brag She's my hero. I'm just taking her lead. I'm happy that she is taking interest in things that I don't know so much about. I'm afraid of being perceived as one of those mothers who live through their children. That is so not the case. There are all kinds of feelings wrapped up in seeing my daughter grow. There is immense pride in knowing that she has turned out so brave, unlike I was at her age. I want to break patterns and encourage her to be who she wants to be without going to far into a dangerous direction. I want her to feel free and safe at the same time. This is hard work. I should be paid. All the good work shouldn't just be rewarded with a warm fuzzy feeling. Society still expects us to pay for the stuff we need, we should be reimbursed for what we are putting into the world. It's about time that mothers are respected for their dedication in raising the next generation of consumers (we are really no longer citizens). Let's hope we can show the next generation that love should always come before commerce. 10:54 a.m. - February 19, 2003 ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
