dorkfysh's Diaryland Diary ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- too many tales to tell Life continues to be crazy. I can't even begin to describe the wacky wedding we went to on Saturday. My sweet sweet friends A & M went and tied the knot and that will be the last church wedding I will ever attend. Oy. It's a miracle that half the guests didn't burst into flames with the fire and brimstone being preached from the pulpit. Shock and awe, indeed. I'm not sure I have ever been to a wedding where the bride and groom were subjected to a lecture about their sins before. Me and the kid and all of our friends sat in the back row and acted like the bratty heathens we are. The kids drew devils and pictures of butts on the little donation cards and we giggled and whispered and just acted like a bunch of bad kids. We were there to represent the bride and she fully supported our shenanigans. At the church reception the father of the groom started telling sexist jokes so me and B made a quick exit and stood outside with steam coming out of our ears. Our beautiful newlywed A is the strongest woman I know...seriously. I would have had a nervous breakdown if I was in her place. The real reception was one hell of a party. The place was all decorated like an opium den and the music to start the evening was a drum buddy and a standup bass. I think me and the kid were the only ones interested. Have you ever seen a drum buddy? Those things are fucking cool! Then The Minds played and the kids all danced and wee Cade "played" the accordian right along with the band. It was proclaimed that we had the coolest kids in the world. Yeah...we knew that. The band then invited the kids to come to their next all ages show. We are so there. It was mostly fun, but the bad bits were awful enough to make us end the party at 10:00 and throw everyone out. Then I watched the girls while a boy I know got to go see his first naked ladies dance. He found it degrading (good for him...what a guy). Then yesterday morning it was time to take Alli and Cade to the airport where they would fly away from us and into Texas. Alli has been like a little sister to me since the day we met. I love her son like I love my own child. They are going to complete their little family and I wish them all the happiness and love in the world and I hope they really stir some shit up in Austin. I think they have it in them. Last night we went to My Big Gay Oscar Party and it was fabulous and shiny as usual. We sat holding our breath, hoping that people would make anti-war statements and ignore the gag order. It was obvious that emotions were high and a lot of the fancy celebrities had tears in their eyes through the whole thing. Nicole Kidman is a big phony, Adrien Brody is my new pretend boyfriend and that guy from Y Tu Mama Tambien is the guy I'm most likely to have sexual fantasies about. Oh! When did everyone get so old??? Peter O'Toole and Karl Malden look like their time might be up. I was also thrilled to see lots of real boob, wrinkles and chicken necks. There were still some creepy botoxed faces, but less than usual and that makes me smile a little inside. Ok...need to get ready to go pick the kid up from her animation class. I hung around for a bit this morning and decided that this might be the coolest class ever. Lucky kid. 10:28 a.m. - March 24, 2003 ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
