nothing shocking

The kid failed gym.

When I tell the people I know they say "Good for her". I have to agree.

The kid is ridiculously active. She rarely sits still for more than a minute at a time. We don't own any video games and she's not the type to sit and gape open-mouthed at the teevee. She runs and plays and rides her bike and climbs trees and jumps rope and shakes her booty and swings across the monkey bars and swims like a fish.

I don't encourage team sports. She played soccer for one season and all I saw was the evil that was to come. I don't think athletic competition is good for kids. I know people will disagree, but I don't see much good come from it.

I talked to her gym teacher on the phone and asked why he hadn't contacted me before if there was a problem. He said that he meant to, but has so many kids to teach. What the fuck? He said that it was disrespectful for her to say that she didn't care about her grade in gym. He also tried to shock me by telling me that she said I wouldn't care if she failed gym.

I told him that I really didn't.

I have yet to meet a gym teacher who wasn't a complete ass. This one is no exception.

So, yeah, good for her.
