dorkfysh's Diaryland Diary

campfire girls

The camping was lovely. Most of the time it was too cold to stray too far from the fire and there was no cushioning from the hard ground while we slept, but the company was fabulous.

The kid was cranky and Pasta Queen's hubbo had several bitchy moments, but the rest of us laughed and laughed and laughed.

The first night I walked down to the lake with the kid and took some pictures. One is going to just be her outline with a passing canoe and a sunset behind her head. The is another of her peeking through the green green branches with her cherry red hair, looking like a rare tropical bird. I hope they turn out.

I also have some shots of PQ doing the hustle and peeing her pants. heee.

We listened to ABBA, crazy cocktail music and Madonna while dancing around the fire with cocktails in hand. We gazed lovingly at the picture of John Leguizamo on the back of my Spin. He is such a pretty boy.

I read all of The Magician's Assistant which was perfect and beautiful.

Me and the kid didn't change our clothes for three days while the Fairy Godfathers had packed enough for a month long cruise. Those boys couldn't possibly be more adorable if they tried.

Stories were told the the kid maybe shouldn't have heard, but I remember the hearing the same sorts of things when I was her age and I'm not scarred too badly. I have to remember to bring another kid next time we wander off into the woods.

The only bad things were the rumors of a shooting across the lake the first night and the horrible mullets camping next to us who made us grateful for the privacy tarps all painted with spirals and stars. They also didn't put out their fire when they left on Monday and threw all their recycling in the dumpster. bah.

Next time it will be all girls (which includes half of the Fairy Godfathers....that boy is more girl than I am) and we will get a yurt at the coast to avoid the sore backitude.

We love the camping.
