dorkfysh's Diaryland Diary

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

o happy day

I let Thea stay home yesterday. The night before had been rough on the kid. I went ot work for half a day and then came home to a half cleaned house and chocolate cake. Sweet.

I picked up A and we went out to help me buy myself some presents. She bought me dinner and I was ridiculously high and dorky in the restaurant. After we ate I stood outside and smoked and watched people walk through the pouring rain. We finally went it to the amazing little tea shop on Hawthorne and bought Violent Crumbles and antique mints. I covet a stainless steel french press.

Then we went to The Gold Door to ooh and ahh over the pretty shiny things. I bought myself a huge coral skull to wear around my neck. It looks like a monkey. A bought herself some new buffalo plugs. They suit her.

We bought ourselves music, too. It was a whole farm theme. She got The Moldy Peaches and Silver Apples and I bought Soul Donkey and took iconoclastastic's advice and got some Funky Chicken. Mmmmmm....new music.

Got my hair cut which freaked me out. I feel like I might look like a puffy mushroom. She touched it too much. May hair likes to be left alone. I don't suppose the rain helped matters. It makes me a teeny bit anxious when my hair is jacked since it's really that one good feature.

Went back to her house and there were presents! Wrapped all fancy with tissue and heavy Japanese origami paper! A liter of yummy vodka, a jar of pmegranate juice, Rose's lime juice, and BOOKS! I'm the One That I Want by my sweet Margaret ( I had owned it nd sold it), Memoirs of a Beatnik by Diane de Prima, Floating in My Mother's Palm by Ursula Hegi and Pussycats which is a lovely collection of vagina paintings. I also got the new issue of Bitch.

Then we had a scrummy dinner of rice noodles with veggies (very cute little round carrots) and vegan prawns.

*heart* Such a lucky girl to have friends like these. It's not the things they give me, but the love behind it. I'm shocked I didn't cry.

Me and A left the kids with M and went to see Rushmore with encouraged audience participation and beer. people love this movie too much for them to get too vocal, but you could feel the shared affection for the characters. Very nice. Before the movie started they had two people come on stage and dress as Max and Blum. They put on these huge inflatable boxing gloves and went at it. The guy that was playing Blum was a giant tool who kept pulling down his pants to show his ass and the girl playing Max KICKED HIS ASS. Ha! Love her.

I dropped A off at home and not two blocks from her hosue I was pulled over for...well...nothing really. I had forgotten to bring my new insurance card into the car and got cited for no insurance and he threatened to tow my car. *snarl* Now I have to go to stupid court just to show them my card. Bleah. Then I got home and discovered the heat register in the living room is busted.

Right now I'm feeling pretty good. Let's hope my chair is still at the thrift shop.

I need new tights and a cute shirt and I plan on finding a place to flirt with my new ugly hair tonight.
